The sailing freighter Tres Hombres arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark yesterday with a cargo hold full of wine. 18.500 bottles and 3 wine barrels were unloaded at the dock Knippelsbrogade. The Danish wine merchants Rosforth & Rosforth go back to basic by choosing to transport their wine consignment with Fair Transport’s sailing cargo vessel Tres Hombres. With this approach Rosforth & Rosforth effectively support sustainable transportation for a greener planet, they are the worlds first wine importers that can classify themselves as true Fair Transport wine merchants.
This is the second time that Rosforth & Rosforth decide on fair transport as an option over transport by truck. Last year the Danish wine merchants transported 8000 bottles with sailing cargo vessel Tres Hombres, only using sailpower. Based upon previous success, Rosforth & Rosforth and winemaker Olivier Cousin decided to on a larger Fair Transport shipment this year.
The wine consignment was loaded in Roscoff, Brittany France and transported to the North by sailing ship. The shipment includes certified biodynamic wines by well-known Olivier Cousin (a cultivator who plows his vineyards with his horse Joker and uses only indigenous yeasts) as well as other excellent French winemakers. By using sailing cargo vessel Tres Hombres to transport their wine, Rosforth&Rosforth save at least 90% emission on their products.
In today’s world, Tres Hombres is the only sailing cargo ship without a motor , with her cargohold full of good, fair products. She sails from country to country carrying cargo to those who appreciate that products are carried in a fair way, fair for the planet. Wine from France, Fish from Norway, rum from the Caribbean, chocolate from Grenada; Fairtransport company, the agent of Tres Hombres, ships cargo the way they did it hundreds of years ago.
At her helm, a trio of ideological captains and a crew that embraces the love of wind and waves, sustainability and fair transport. Skippers Arjen van Veen, Andreas Lackner and Jorne Langelaan met each other at the Maritime School in Enkhuizen, The Netherlands. Dubbed the Tres Hombres, these three men soon realized their compatibility, not only as captains but as visionairs who want to make a change for the betterment of the planet. Call it green, call it clean, call it from A to B, CO2 free their combined effort rapidly resulted in the Fairtransport ambassador ship Tres Hombres.
